History:
The Huskies are favored to win as they own a 22-1 overall record and a 9-0 home-game record versus the Golden Eagles. The last time the Big East rivals met was last season, when Connecticut blew out Marquette 92-57.
Within 27 minutes, Paige Buckers topped the team with 19 points, four rebounds, seven assists and three steals. The former leader knocked down six of nine (66.7%) field goals, banked one of two (50%) shots from deep and made four of five (80%) free throws.
Alongside Bueckers, Sarah Strong trailed behind her with 17 points, five boards, four assists, two blocks and three takeaways. Within 24 minutes, the forward drained seven of nine (77.8%) shots from within the arc and splashed one of three (33.3%) attempts from deep.
Similar to the 2025-2026 campaign, UConn converted 24 turnovers into 27 points, while the bench secured 31 points. So far in the 2025-2026 stretch, the Huskies average slightly over 33.5 points off turnovers and accumulate 31.5 bench points per clash.
As for Marquette, three players notched double-digit scores, with Jaidynn Mason racking up 13 points, three rebounds, a block and three steals. Within 23 minutes, the Missouri native swished four of nine (44.4%) shots from the paint and cashed in five of six (83.3%) free throws, but did not try from downtown.
In total, the squad struggled from all ranges, sinking six of 19 (31.6%) long-range shots and sniping 12 of 29 (41.4%) two-pointers.
Scouting the Golden Eagles:
Heading into tonight’s matchup, Marquette enters People’s Bank Arena owning a three-game win streak.
In the program’s recent 89-42 triumph over the Le Moyne Dolphins, Halle Vice earned a double-double, dropping 23 points, 10 boards and four assists. Within 29 minutes, the junior landed eight of 12 (66.7%) shots from the field and two of three (66.7%) tries from beyond the arc. This was Vice’s third consecutive contest scoring 10-plus points.
When it comes to Skylar Forbes, who leads the squad with nearly 16 points per battle, the forward contributed 16 points. This comes after the junior tied her career-high of 26 points against the Butler Bulldogs.
Other than the starting lineup, the bench played a key role in the Golden Eagles’ 47-point victory. Collectively, the bench accumulated 34 points while facing Le Moyne. Jordan Meulemans posted 15 points, a board and an assist. The guard shined from deep, nailing five of seven (71.4%) attempts.
With that being said, keeping an eye on all three players is a must.
Scouting the Huskies:
After handing the Southern California Trojans a 79-51 loss with everyone seeing at least a minute of play, it should come as no surprise to see everyone participate tonight.
One player to watch out for is Ashlynn Shade, who has scored 10-plus points in three of Connecticut’s last four matches.
To add on, four of the five starters took the court for 30 minutes, which is unlikely to happen tonight.
