Souleymane Diaby no longer on UConn Basketball roster

STORRS, CT – UConn Basketball walk-on guard Souleymane Diaby is no longer on the Huskies 2025-26 roster, but will remain with the program in a different capacity, sources told On3’s UConn Report on Monday.

The Springfield, Massachusetts native transferred to UConn last year, coming in from the Junior College level where he was at Lewis and Clark Community College. During his time at the JUCO level, Diaby averaged 5.5 points per games for the Trailblazers as a sophomore in 2022-23.
Diaby was UConn’s lone walk-on last year, but was deemed a partial qualifier by the NCAA last season and did not play at all. He aided Sabis International Charter School in its Western Mass Division III championship run before spending a grad year at The MacDuffie School in Granby, Massachusetts as a high school prospect.
As of now, the Huskies’ roster comprises zero walk-ons. Instead Dan Hurley and crew will be using the new 15 man roster limit to his advantage, putting all 15 players on scholarship.
