CeeDee Lamb Holds a Grudge against a Former Kentucky Wildcat

Cowboys fans weren’t thrilled with their superstar wide receiver in week one. CeeDee Lamb was blinded by the spotlight during the first NFL game of the 2025 season. He’s playing with something to prove in week two, and he’s got one opponent in his crosshairs.
During the Cowboys’ annual Thanksgiving game, the New York Giants put up quite a fight in a 27-20 loss. One former Kentucky Wildcat brought the physicality to Dallas’ star wide receiver. Dru Phillips tackled Lamb to the turf and re-aggravated a shoulder injury. The nagging pain never went away, ultimately prematurely ending his season in week 16.
The Giants are traveling to Jerry World this Sunday, and Lamb is ready for some revenge against the former Wildcat defensive back.
“He tackled me and hurt me, so I’ve got something for him,” Lamb said Thursday. “For sure.”
A tackle? Isn’t that what defensive backs are supposed to do? Lamb is likely taking umbrage with Phillips because the collision happened when the wide receiver did not have the ball. Now he’s ready to take it to the second-year defensive back.

Lamb shouldn’t need any extra motivation. Even though the Cowboys’ star had 110 receiving yards, ranking in the top five in the NFL during week one, he should have caught more than seven passes. Lamb dropped at least three, with two on the final drive as Dallas tried to come from behind and knock off the defending Super Bowl Champs. Even though one would have been a miraculous reception, the player before hit him right in the hands and would’ve gotten Dallas in the red zone.
Phillips opened his second season in New York with four tackles in a loss to the Commanders. He’s the Giants’ top slot cornerback. That means we won’t see him go toe-to-toe against Lamb on every down, but when they do, expect fireworks between these bitter divisional rivals.
The Giants and the Cowboys will kick off at 1 PM ET on FOX.
