Former Wildcat Alexis Holmes adds to her gold medal collection

Former Kentucky Track and Field star Alexis Holmes already has a trophy shelf of gold medals that would make King Midas blush, but it just got even more golden. Representing the United States of America at the World Championships in Tokyo on Saturday, Holmes won the gold in the 4 x 400 meter Mixed Relay.
Holmes and her teammates, Bryce Deadmon, Lynna Irby-Jackson, and Jenoah McKiver, dominated the competition with a championship record time of 3:08.80, a full second ahead of the Netherlands, which came in second place.
With the win, the USA retained its 4 x 400 meter Mixed Relay title, having won the event at the 2024 World Relays as well.
This marks Holmes’ second gold medal in this event, as she took the win at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, just one year removed from her senior year at the University of Kentucky.
