Kentucky commit Anthony Brown scores 3 touchdowns in season debut

Kentucky football’s recruiting efforts with wide receivers have improved drastically over the last couple of years. The Wildcats are consistently bringing in respected pass-catchers (from high school and the transfer portal) and there is plenty of hype surrounding this year’s group of freshmen wide-outs in Dane Key and Barion Brown.
Springfield (OH) High School’s Anthony Brown is one of the latest prized WRs to commit to Kentucky. Considered a high-level three-star from the class of 2023, the 5-foot-9 speedster chose UK back in June. His senior season began on Saturday night and the future ‘Cat is already putting up impressive numbers.
Brown registered three touchdowns in Springfield’s tightly contested 29-22 victory over St. Louis (MO) De Smet Jesuit. Brown sprinted for a 69-yard score off a pass from senior quarterback Bryce Schondelmyer that gave Springfield a seven-point lead with under five minutes left in the game.
“Once I saw the cornerback bite on the corner (route) and I was breaking into my post, I knew he was going to let it go,” Brown said, according to the Springfield News-Sun. “Thankfully he got it to where it needed to be and the line did what they had to do and we ended up getting a touchdown.”

Unfortunately, I can’t find any video of that particular play, but here are some other highlights from Brown’s impressive afternoon, including a 12-yard touchdown catch and an impressive kickoff return.
Brown’s go-ahead score in the fourth quarter was almost fumbled away by the Springfield defense on the final possession, but the Wildcats made a terrific goal-line stand with 16 seconds left to secure the win.
The Kentucky coaching staff looks to have snagged another good one in Brown.
