WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Be sure to check out our updates with LB coach Derek Nicholson plus S Jaden Harris and C Zach Carpenter as the team heads to the midway point of spring drills this week.

There’s also CaneSport publisher Gary Ferman answering all your mid-spring questions.

You also can check out our story with women’s basketball coach Katie Meier sharing her reasons for stepping down.

There’s also plenty of recruiting news for you, including the new commitment on Saturday from Armwood (Fla.) running back Girard Pringle. Get his thoughts.

This morning we also have a new Inside The Lines feature with Miami (Fla.) Central three-star defensive tackle target Floyd Boucard.

From Saturday’s big recruiting visit Saturday? We have your full notebook off that event that coincided with practice and had individual updates with several key targets – Cincinnati (Ohio) Lakota West four-star 2025 tight end Luka Gilbert, Armwood (Fla.) running back Girard Pringle, New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw running back Jasper Parker and Los Angeles (Ca.) Oaks Christian four-star EDGE Hayden Lowe.

A visitor last Thursday we catch up with is Miami three-star offensive line commit Lamar Williams. He has two OVs set up and breaks down how solid he is with the Canes. Another Thursday visitor was Miami (Fla.) Carol City four-star Hurricanes commit Jordan Campbell, the No. 57 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 3 linebacker in the 2026 class. He is still receiving his share of national attention from major programs and breaks down where things stand. Also on campus that day was Miami (Fla.) Monsignor Pace defensive lineman Wilnerson Telemaque. His recruitment has picked up in a major way since the start of the spring but UM is in a wait-and-see situation. Find out why.

Another update: Rising Miami (Fla.) Southridge 2026 defensive lineman Ryan Miret has seen a handful of schools dish out offers since the end of his sophomore season, but last week the Miami Hurricanes became the first major program to do so. Get his thoughts.

Since receiving an offer from Miami in January, the Hurricanes have made Community School of Naples (Fla.) three-star offensive lineman Taren Hedrick feel like a priority prospect. He shares where things stand.

Tampa (Fla.) Robinson top-300 cornerback Dominick Kelly’s recruitment has taken off in a major way in 2024 after landing more than a dozen offers since the start of the new year. He breaks things down after visiting UM this past week.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas 2027 cornerback Zayden Gamble has an early Miami offer and breaks down where things stand.

There’s also the recap of the baseball team’s tough weekend series at Notre Dame, dropping two of three there, to check out.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

James Williams and Leonard Taylor in the draft thoughts … Posted by Ibis17

I remember Williams talking about only going to college for three years while he was still in high school. I remember thinking to myself that sounds like a college student talking about how they’re going to get a supervisor job right out of school with no experience. Just idiotic. Does it make sense sometimes for a kid to leave college early for the draft? Yes. Is it or should it be the norm? Absolutely not! LT seems like he got way out over his skis as well but I’m not sure he was willing to work that hard even if he had stayed. Hopefully they have productive NFL careers and provide a great many opportunities for their families but it might not be as easy as they thought.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Practice was really cool, and it was really high-paced. I’ve never seen anything like it. I wrestle, so I’m used to high pace, but I’ve never seen a football practice like that.”
