Michigan State will welcome class of 2025 four-star linebacker target Dante McClellan for an unofficial visit this weekend, his director of recruiting, Edwin Glick of Canton (OH) McKinley tells SpartanMag.com. It will be the second trip to East Lansing for the four-star linebacker as he also visited on Feb. 3 for the Spartan junior day event.

The Spartans offered McClellan back in late January as head coach Jonathan Smith and defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Joe Rossi were hitting the recruiting trail in northeast Ohio.

The four-star also held an offer from Minnesota, as Rossi was the coach to extend the Gopher offer as well. McClellan and Rossi built a strong relationship, as the position coach looks to carry that relationship over to East Lansing.

“We already had a relationship built from when he was at Minnesota, so I know he is a good guy,” McClellan told SpartanMag.com. “He wants me to come and see the campus and he just let me know that things are changing around there. I like the move (to Michigan State) a lot and it shows the he wants me.”

McClellan (6-3, 200) holds other offers from USC, Tennessee, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Indiana, and others. He is ranked a four-star, the No. 315 overall recruit in his class by the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. The linebacker is also ranked the No. 32 recruit at his position, and the No. 13 recruit in Ohio.

Michigan State and Rossi also welcomed Ohio linebacker Grant Beerman to East Lansing for the first practice of the spring on March 19. Beerman is another top priority target for Rossi and the Spartans. Class of 2025 in-state linebacker DiMari Malone will also visit Michigan State on March 23.

In-state linebacker Charles White has also been made a top target, being offered by Michigan State back in December of 2023. White will take an official visit to Michigan State in June, as the Spartans sit well early with all three linebacker targets mentioned above. Rossi and Michigan State will look to remain in the top group with McClellan as well, as Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, and others are also involved.
