Chad Simmons confirms a pair of new official visits

On3 national writer Chad Simmons dropped by the Underground Bunker Message Board to announce a pair of new Michigan State official visitors.

The first is from three-star offensive lineman Darius Afalava, of Lehi (UT) Skyridge High School for the weekend of May 31. Afalava (6-5, 280) will also take official visits to Tennessee and Washington.

“I really want to visit Michigan State just because of the coaches and their philosophy of being the best standard you can be,” Afalava told SpartanMag.com. “Also, they have high interest in me.”

Afalava was offered by current Spartan offensive line coach Jim Michalczik and head coach Jonathan Smith during their time at Oregon State.

“Coach M is one of the coaches that I’ve know since the beginning of this recruitment process,” Afalava said. “I feel like me and Coach Ms relationship is strong just because I get to talk to Coach M a lot and he is always looking to when he can come down. I’m just honored to get offered again by Coach M.”

He is ranked a three-star, the No. 456 overall recruit in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. Afalava is also ranked the No. 38 interior lineman, and the No. 3 recruit in Utah. His other offers include Oklahoma, Michigan, LSU, Oregon, and many more.

Chad Simmons also reported that Michigan State will host three-star Georgia defensive back Gerritt Kemp for an official visit to East Lansing on June 21. Kemp (6-3, 180) was offered by Michigan State back in March. The official visit will be his first visit to Michigan State.

Kemp holds other offers from Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Duke, and others. Kemp is ranked the No. 519 overall recruit in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. He is also ranked the No. 27 athlete, and the No. 54 recruit in Georgia.
