The Wolverine discusses Michigan football RB recruiting movement, visit takeaways & weekend preview

On The Wolverine’s live Tuesday recruiting show, analysts EJ Holland and Zach Libby recapped Michigan’s recent major recruiting weekend and expected spring visitors later this week, including Top 100 Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks East offensive lineman Michael Carroll.

Carroll Recruitment

Carroll is expected to return to Michigan on March 30 to watch spring camp practice. It’ll be his fourth appearance in Ann Arbor since July of last year. He first attended the annual summer BBQ at The Big House and then came back twice in the fall, including in late November for the Ohio State game.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome have made Carroll a top priority this cycle. The junior mauler has developed close relationships with both staff members.

At 6-foot-6, 300 pounds, Carroll is listed as the No. 69 overall prospect and the No. 3 interior offensive lineman in the country, according to On3. He’s also the No. 3 recruit in the state of Pennsylvania. Michigan is the current leader for Carroll on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

Here’s what Holland had to say about Carroll’s recruitment.

“He’s been on campus a ton,” Holland said. “He’s the highest-rated of the 2025 guys coming in. I think On3 has it right with Carroll. I had the chance to go visit him at his high school. His frame is extremely impressive. He’s listed as an interior guy, but he also has tackle flexibility. Moore made him a priority when he was the offensive line coach. Newsome immediately made him a priority. Carroll is a Michigan State and Penn State legacy. But I actually think Michigan has the advantage right now. If I had to make a pick today, I’d probably go with Michigan. I still think Carroll needs to continue bonding with Newsome, check out practice, and continue to feel comfortable on campus.”

Michigan currently yields three verbal commits in the 2025 recruiting class – On300 Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, On300 Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens.
