Q&A With On300 LB Kamar Archie | Michigan Recruiting | #GoBlue

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland recently sat down with On300 Princeton (N.J.) Hun School linebacker Kamar Archie to get his thoughts on Michigan and more.

Archie Recruitment

Archie notched an offer from Michigan in February of last year and made his first visit to Michigan in January for Sherrone Moore’s first recruiting weekend as head coach.

Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge is leading the way in his recruitment and making a strong impression early on.

“It was a great experience,” Archie said. “The facilities are great. I was really impressed with the weight room. Even though there (was) no linebackers coach, they have been doing a great job of keeping the relationship going with me. Michigan kind of reminds me of how my school is set up in some ways. You’re closer to a neighborhood. That kind of shocked me. The weight room is second to none.”

Michigan now has a new linebackers coach in Brian Jean-Mary, who made Archie a top priority during his time at Tennessee.

“We had a really good connection,” Archie said. “It’s perfect for me. When he was at Tennessee, we would talk every day, basically. It shouldn’t change. There are a lot of things I like about him. He’s from where my father is from, which is crazy. We have a connection. He’s down to earth. Another thing is he knows this Michigan defense. It’s great.”

Archie is a high school teammate of three-star 2024 Michigan defensive line signee Owen Wafle, who is already recruiting him to U-M.

Along with Michigan, Archie holds offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and others.

Rutgers currently has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 45.8 percent chance of landing him. Michigan is in third place with a 5.3 percent chance of landing him.

At 6-foot-1, 230 pounds, Archie is ranked as the No. 21 linebacker and No. 190 overall prospect nationally, per On3. Archie is also ranked as the No. 7 overall recruit in the state of New Jersey for next cycle.

Michigan has three verbal commitments in its 2025 recruiting class in On300 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, On300 Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens. The class is ranked No. 17 nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings.
