Crimson Countdown: No. 52 Troy Everett
The Crimson Countdown is officially on for the 2025 Oklahoma football season. Everybody wants to forget about 2024 and move forward.
Head coach Brent Venables and staff have attempted to do that. New face calling the offense (Ben Arbuckle). Venables calling the defense, it’s now or never for this regime at OU in the SEC. No beating around the bush.
Every day as we get closer to kickoff, SoonerScoop.com will count down the days with you. Starting with No. 99 and working our way to No. 0, we’ll be there every step of the way.
Crimson Countdown: No. 52 Troy Everett
2024 stats: Played in eight games, started the final seven at center
2025 outlook:
Are we going too far to say this offensive line is Everett’s? Like he has the pulse of the group and is the unquestioned leader?
It sure felt that way down the stretch last season. Felt like it took another step in that direction during the course of spring.

He says all the right things. Everett is a true leader by example as well. Now? Well, he just needs to let his play do the rest of the talking. Because the only way to be an effective leader is by him being great at what he does.
This season should be a good showcase for Everett. He’s not working back from an injury like at the start of 2024. Went through spring completely healthy, has a good feel of the offense and should anchor the group.
The line, we know, has to be better. It will all start with Everett.
2025 interior offensive linemen outlook
This is one of the positions on the roster that seems to have plenty of bodies and talent but what remains is a lot of interest over who will be in the rotation. At right guard and center the Sooners return maybe the line’s two most clear starters in Febechi Nwaiwu and Troy Everett, respectively. However, there is competition chasing both including transfer Jake Maikkula and incoming standout freshman Ryan Fodje. On the left side Heath Ozaeta missed spring practice while recovering from a shoulder injury. The name to keep an eye on as a big riser is redshirt freshman Eddy Pierre-Louis.
