SPRING, Texas – Oklahoma only has one commitment in the class of 2026, Cibolo (Texas) Steele running back Jonathan Hatton. The four-star back, who is the No. 31 overall player in the newly updated On3 class rankings, took part in the Houston Under Armour camp and shined amongst an elite group of backs.

“I think I did good, I think I came out and competed and showed what I can do,” Hatton said. “I think they should put me in at receiver, outside, some of the packages that we’ve got. I’m confident if they put me out wide.”

As mentioned the Sooners landed a commitment from Hatton on Oct. 3, exactly a week after his first visit to Norman. The big back reiterated his love for Oklahoma following his trip to Norman a few weeks ago. But from the time of his decision his thought process was well-crystalized.

“I feel like I found home and I was just thinking ‘why wait until Sr. year if I can commit now if I already know where I want to go?’,” he explained.

Oklahoma’s coaching staff has been busy continuing to build the bond with Hatton. In fact they are still working on making sure he is comfortable being himself all around Norman.

“I think they really want my real character, my inside to come out, my goofiness to come out. They bring out home feelings, that’s what I really like,” he said of the Sooners staff.

Hatton, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 running back, spent his trip to ‘Future Freaks’ in early March recruiting numerous class of 2026 standouts. He’s enjoying his new found role and feels he’s Oklahoma’s staffer No. 11.

“It’s going good, I feel like another coach, it’s a great feeling though,” he laughed.

But while Hatton feels like a coach, he’s planning to get to Norman to show Demarco Murray what improvements he has been making.

“I might come up there for a camp, I”m going to have to get with my parents, going to have to get up there for a camp and show coach Murray what I’ve been working on.”
