SPRING, Texas – Oklahoma is heavily involved with some of the nation’s top receivers but few have they pursued longer than Andrew Marsh. The Katy (Texas) Jordan product has been a focal point of Emmett Jones‘s efforts since he arrived in Norman 14 months ago. And it seems that work is paying off as Marsh remains heavily interested in Oklahoma among several others.

Marsh arrived to the Houston Under Armour camp as a marked man that young talented defenders wanted to make a name against. He takes pride in being a guy that others are hoping to make a name against.

“I feel like there are a few ways to look at it. It definitely does add the aspect that there is more competition, more fun, more reps. But also it does add more pressure, more eyes. You go somewhere it’s more people looking at you,” Marsh said.

But even with that considered he left the camp with an MVP award.

“For the most part, I just try and get better every time I come on the field. I leave it a highlight and prove I’m the No. 1 receiver,” he said.

The weekend before the camp he was in Norman hanging out with Emmett Jones and the Sooners staff. Jones and Oklahoma have a very simple message for the nation’s No. 68 overall player in the On3 Industry ranking.

“OU was really nice [last] weekend. Seeing all of the new people that are up there. Getting to talk to coach (Brent) Venables again and see and hear what they’ve got for me. Some of the behind the scenes stuff,” he explained.

“Coach Jones message to me is just that he wants me there, wants me to be part of the team. what has been expressed to me is I would be used inside and outside, just wherever. Just creativity to get the ball in my hands.”

Marsh knows things are about to get hectic in his recruitment with a number of officials already set including one to Norman.

“I know we had talked about A&M, Oklahoma, Texas, and Michigan, I want to say that’s what we have [set up] so far. I’ll be on visits to USC, Nebraska, and Louisville (as well),” he said. “It’s just kind of setup that way, til like June that’s what I’ll be doing.”

Though he has made numerous trips to Oklahoma, the Sooners getting him back on campus is obviously key. But for Marsh what is that stands out about the Sooners?

“I would say definitely the people there. Everyone there is good people. I like what they do with their whole family aspect and their whole culture as a team.”
