National Signing Day WINNERS | Auburn, Hugh Freeze ATTACK MODE | Oklahoma Sooners SEC Trenches!

Oklahoma’s junior days, through the first three springs under Brent Venables have largely been affairs to set up future success. But on occasion a commitment has rolled in and Saturday’s event in Norman has proven no different. Saturday’s commitment comes from a player at a key need position – offensive tackle Ryan Fodje.

The Sooners are looking to make a splash along the offensive line and landed Fodje – who on August 26 the Sooners became the first program to offer. And though a little over five months have passed, according to Fodje his future was set when the offer took place.

“I knew I was going to commit when (Oklahoma) offered me,” Fodje said of any plan for a decision this weekend.

That sentiment has been backed up before by Fodje who admitted Oklahoma were a key element of his recruitment back in October when SCOOPHD got by to see him. And within his thoughts on the Sooners was a strong feeling about Bill Bedenbaugh‘s record of NFL prospects.

“Coach Bedenbaugh is a really great offensive line coach. It’s a very good school for offensive lineman, like Jonte (Newman) said. If you want to go to the NFL, go to Oklahoma.”

But it was more than that for Fodje, he says the bond he has built with the staff, team, and even the campus were unique.

“Ever since I stepped foot on campus it just felt like home,” he said.

Though the coaching staff’s immediate response was to welcome Fodje to the ‘family’ in Norman it was his own family that were a supportive piece of today’s puzzle.

“(My family) supported me a lot, and I love them for that.”
