Coming into Oklahoma’s junior day on Saturday there were a number of top-end prospects that everyone was excited to see. However, one of the headline stories of the day was the presence of a big-man that didn’t expect to make it in.

That player was Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley Northwest offensive tackle Andrew Babalola. On Thursday he’d informed Scoop that he didn’t expect to make it. However, on Saturday, there he was. And Bill Bedenbaugh and the Sooners have plenty of reason to be excited about what he had to say after.

“[The] visit was great. This time, I got to have a lot more in depth conversations with coach [Brent] V(enables) and coach Bedenbaugh. The whole staff was great and I loved the environment,” Babalola said. “I’m going come back up for spring practice.”

During his visit Babalola got to spend a lot of time with Oklahoma’s group of young offensive linemen and get a feel for life in Norman. He also spent some time with Venables and got a clear idea of the things that matter to Oklahoma’s third-year man.

“He just talked about his mission and what he wants to do with the program. He talked about how him and the staff are all about player development on and off the field. They are equipping players with the skills to succeed in life,” he said.

As mentioned, you can expect Babalola, the nation’s No. 22 player in the On3 industry ranking, back for a spring practice.

Sooners Commits Enjoy ‘Amazing’ Time

A large number of Oklahoma commitments were on hand and as we get more and more feedback from them it sounds like the Sooners knocked the visit out of the park.

“It was amazing,” Elijah Thomas said of his trip.

“Today was good, my mom and I both enjoyed it,” Trynae Washington said.

“It’s good, I love it,” Ka’Mori Moore said. “I was just getting closer with everyone and it’s been amazing.”

OU Linebacker Target Enjoys Meeting New Staffer

Omaha (Neb.) Westside linebacker Christian Jones has been a long-time Oklahoma target but the Sooners have a new man leading Jones’s recruitment. And this weekend was the first opportunity for Jones to really spend some time around Oklahoma’s new man Zac Alley. It’s safe to say that Alley made the most of his opportunity.

“Me and coach Alley spent most the day together and it went good. He is young and got some good fire to him,” Jones said.

Though Alley is new to Norman he seems to fit the culture well at Oklahoma. And that culture is something that Jones says he is drawn to in Norman.

“The culture is something else, I like what they have with the SOUL mission,” he said. “[It means] quite a bit. I come from a very rich-culture school and I want that in college as well.”
