We had a Purdue football chat on Friday. Where were you? No worries. Below, find some select excerpts to re-live the excitement. Click here to read the entire chat.

Q: Top 5 players most likely to get drafted?-KHC Goat
A: Wow. OK. I will project the five–regardless of class

OL Marques Easley
DL Jamarrion Harkless
DL TJ Lindsey
LB Sanders Ellis
OL Jalen St. John

Again, this is all highly speculative. But, based on potential I hear about, these five merit projection as possible draft picks.

Q: Are we mostly done with (2025) roster movement/football news until camp? Do players do anything beyond individual workouts over the summer? -wichita
A: As far as adding players who figure to be key members of the team, I think Purdue is finished. But likely will see a few guys added–more players to fill out the roster and help the squad practice. The Marshall running back is a good example.

Q: You have any personal stories about Jim Irsay? And 2) Will you be heading to Husky Stadium in November? -Drjimdvm
A: I don’t have any personal stories about Irsay. But by all accounts, he’s a guy who had a big heart, thought of others and was generous. I interned with the Colts at their training camp in 1986 at Anderson College. Irsay would be around, lifting weights in a tent near a practice field. I’d see him eating in the dining hall. And one of my jobs was to put a copy of USA Today at his door.

Q: Is Ryan Browne off to any QB camps this summer? -be_bold_in_gold?
A: Not that I am aware of. I know he’s in Dallas now doing some training.

Q: How do you think NIL and revshare will affect redshirt decisions? Think a lot of freshmen might take the RS for an extra year of $, and hope the amount increases as they age?
A: It is a good thought, redshirting in hopes of making more money later. No doubt, the older/more mature player typically is set up to make more money than a younger/inexperienced player. But, heck, if a player gets a chance to play a key role as a true freshman, it can difficult to turn down–right? (Guys can play as many as four games and retain their redshirt.)

Q: Are we still in the running for Matt Ponatoski or has that cooled off with Corin Berry committing?-DDD_99
A: Ponatoski is a 2026 QB at Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati who has offers from the likes of Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas and Georgia Tech, among other schools. I have to think Purdue will be taking just one prep quarterback each cycle. And, as you mentioned, it has gotten that 2026 guy already in one-time Boston College commit Corin Berry. Purdue’s current QB situation:

Bennett Meredith, Jr.
Ryan Browne, Soph.
Malachi Singleton, Soph.
Evans Chuba, RSFr.
Garyt Odom, Fr.

Who of that group–gotta think a few walk-ons will be in there–will still be here in 2026? Will another portal QB be needed? Just so many unknowns and needs for Purdue.
