2026 TE Keawe Browne Re-Opens Recruitment After Silent Texas Commitment

2026 tight end Keawe Browne has officially re-opened his recruitment, moving on from a silent commitment to Texas.
Sources told Inside Texas that Browne had a great official visit earlier this summer and was trending toward a possible commitment. Predictions were in place for Texas, but Browne never went public with his decision. The Longhorns asked him to postpone an announcement while they sorted out roster numbers for the 2026 class and navigated NIL structures.

Browne honored that process but ultimately decided to move on and pursue other opportunities.
“I appreciate the staff at Texas for offering me and bringing my family on an official visit this summer,” Browne wrote in a statement. “However, with recent changes in my recruitment and further interest from other universities, my family and those close to me believe it is in my best interest to re-open my recruiting. I will be moving on from the University of Texas.”
Texas will now shift its focus to other tight end targets in the 2026 class. The Longhorns currently feature a young, talented tight end room, providing depth and flexibility as they continue roster building.
