Texas extends offer to four-star EDGE Desmond Umeozulu
Earlier tonight Texas extended an offer to Upper Marlboro (Md.) Charles Herbert Flowers 2023 EDGE Desmond Umeozulu. Umeozulu is a 6-foot-6, 222-pound four-star athlete that has picked up offers from Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Georgia along with dozens more.

Umeozulu has family ties to the University of Texas in that he is second cousins with 2022 Texas signee Neto Umeozulu and younger brother/Texas priority 2024 EDGE Zina Umeozulu who both starred at Allen High School in the DFW Metroplex.
Desmond Umeozulu is the 13th EDGE prospect that the Longhorns have offered in the 2023 cycle, a group that is headlined by On3 consensus five-star Matayo Uiagalelei.
Umeozulu played on the edge in a four-man front for C.H. Flowers High School and helped lead the Jaguars to an 11-2 record an appearance in the 4A Maryland state semifinals during the 2021 season. The 6-foot-6 athlete also played some tight end for his high school squad and self-reports a 4.9 40 yard dash time.
Texas has one verbal commitment in the 2023 cycle in Arlington (Texas) Seguin four-star cornerback Jamel Johnson. Johnson is the No. 180 prospect in the country according to the On3 Consensus and has an On3 NIL Valuation of $10,900. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
At 6-foot-6, 222 pounds, Desmond Umeozulu is the No. 174 ranked recruit in the country in the class of 2023, according to the On3 consensus a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 20 EDGE in the country and the No. 2 recruit from the state of Maryland. Umeozulu currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation.
