Let me see if I understand this: Mitch gets a job that neither he nor the university can describe or define, yet someone has somehow determined that this undefined job without any stated goals is worth $1,000,000 per year. Is that about the gist of it? Also, as I understand it, we do know one thing: it's definitely not a golden parachute. Only a knucklehead like me would think that.

There isn’t a CEO in the world that spends 25 years at a large company that doesn’t get a similar retirement gig and salary. Doing stuff like this encourages guys not to hold jobs longer than they need to. If you wanted Mitch gone as the AD, be happy because you got your wish. Not upset that he has another job that won’t deal with the inner workings of the department.I just assumed that he moved into the position that was previously marked for Calipari, upon retirement from UK and coaching…. As for what he is actually going to do for the $1M+, I believe he is "working through the pieces"

Mitch giving insane contracts, making UK athletics a LLC and now his made up over paid job….. something just seems corrupt here! Perhaps it’s a series of poor decisions but it certainly seems odd and should at least be investigated.

Surely it was a posted job that the public could apply for?

Thats not even mentioning the million they’ll pay the new AD. They’ll do all that and then ask all the fans that don’t even make close to half of what Mitch makes for money to support the teams. You don’t see a problem with that? You’d be stunned to see the 6 figure salaries at all athletic departments of this scale that will do less for the athletes than Mitch’s new role will. On top of that, UK Athletics is making budget cuts and begging for donations? Yeah, GTFO with that. Between this and the JMI deal, Barnhart is shady at best. UK needs to rid the university of him, he is an absolute cancer.I get people don’t like Mitch, but I’ve got to say, I’m a little surprised by all the outrage. We’ve had assistant coaches with very similar titles and much less equity built up with the university. I’m good with it.
