Minnesota LB commit Charlie Jilek flips to Texas

On Thursday, the Minnesota Golden Gophers for the fourth time in the 2026 recruiting cycle had a prospect decommit from their class as linebacker Charlie Jilek announced his decision to flip his commitment to the University of Texas.
The Portage Central prospect was committed to the Gophers for just a little over a month, originally flipping to Minnesota from UCF on October 1. However, the opportunity to play tight end as well as for one of the country’s top programs in Texas, appeared to be too much for Jilek to turn down.
With the decommitment, the Gophers are down to 30 commitments in their 2026 recruiting class including a pair of linebacker commitments in Liberty (AZ) standout Hudson Dunn and Steelton-Highspire (PA) talent Angel Luciano.
Jilek joins offensive linemen Daniel McMorris and Mataalii Benjamin as well as wide receiver Kai Meza as prospects to decommit from the Gophers in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
