It took Kentucky a little bit to warm up, but they’ve opened up a nice lead on the Howard Bison in tonight’s season-opener. After 20 minutes of play, it’s Kentucky 49, Howard 26.

Two Wildcats are in double figures: Antonio Reeves with 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-7 3PT) and CJ Fredrick with 11 (2-4 FG, 1-3 3PT, 6-7 FT). Jacob Toppin and Cason Wallace are close behind with 9 and 8, respectively. Ugonna Onyenso continues to be a pleasant surprise, chipping in four points, four rebounds, and three blocks in 11 minutes.

Kentucky got off to a cold start but finished the half shooting 51.6% (16-31) from the floor, 41.7% (5-12) from three. The Cats held Howard to 27.8% (10-36) from the floor, 15.4% (2-13) from three. Kentucky leads the battle of the boards 25-21, with Toppin leading the team thus far with eight rebounds.

In case you missed it, Oscar Tshiebwe (knee), Sahvir Wheeler (knee), and Daimion Collins (personal) are all out. Collins, who has been in Texas with his family following the passing of his father, Ben, is expected to rejoin the team tonight.

So far, so good. Enjoy the box score and highlights below.
