Larry Warford’s run with the New Orleans Saints has come to an end. According to Ian Rapoport, the Saints cut the three-time Pro Bowler today, making him one of the top free agents on the market. The Saints paid Warford a $750,000 bonus this spring but will save more than $7 million against the cap by cutting him, which is a necessity after they signed Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill.

In 2017, Warford signed a four-year $34 million contract with the Saints and started all 44 games in which he appeared. He was named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl in 2019 after New Orleans tied for third in the league in points per game and gave up only 25 sacks, tied for the third fewest in the league. Warford, who played high school football at Madison Central in Richmond, was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft (65th overall) after a stellar career at Kentucky, in which he received Second Team All-SEC honors in 2010, 2011, and 2012.

I doubt Warford will be looking for a new home for long.
