2023 Signing Day

2023 Norman (OK) Community Christian four-star EDGE Bai Jobe has signed with Michigan State. Jobe, standing at 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, originally committed to the Spartans on July 7, 2022. Jobe held additional offers from Kentucky, Purdue, Kansas, Syracuse, and more. The 2023 On3 Consensus four-star is ranked No. 79 nationally, the No. 12 EDGE, and the No. 1 player in the state of Oklahoma.

On3 rates Jobe four-star prospect (95.00), No. 58 nationally, the No. 8 EDGE, and the No. 1 player in the state of Oklahoma.

“I love Coach Marco (Coleman). He’s a great coach and I love it,” Jobe told On3. “I really like Coach B. Jordan and he’s one of the best pass-rush trainers in the country — and I need that. I need somewhere to be developed to the next level and show myself off. Coach Marco played in the league for more than 10 years. He knows a lot of stuff about the league to get me ready.”

Scouting Summary

Longer-limbed edge rusher that possesses great burst and twitch with a knack for getting to the quarterback. A native of Senegal who moved to the United States to seek a career as a professional basketball player. With his movement skills and body control, it is easy to see how those abilities on the court have translated to the football field as a pass rusher and as a wide receiver. Has solid hand usage for being a developmental prospect. Much more refined against the run than you would expect for someone who didn’t know how to put on pads three years ago. Made rapid improvements from his sophomore to junior season, particularly with his burst off the ball. Even though he needs to continue to fill out his frame, he arguably has the highest ceiling of any prospect in the state of Oklahoma. Highly productive against subpar competition at the high school level and may need some time to adjust to the speed of the game once in college. Will need to continue filling out a relatively thin frame once in a college strength program.

Reminds Us Of

Bai Jobe is a twitchy pass rusher and former basketball-first athlete who is new to football. That was the case with K’Lavon Chaisson in the 2017 cycle. Jobe is around the same size as Chaisson at a similar stage, but is a touch longer and should have more room to add weight.

Personal Life

Bai Jobe moved to the United States in 2018 from his homeland of Senegal with dreams of playing in the NBA. However, the coaching staff at Norman Community Christian convinced him to give football a try. It was a test Jobe passed with flying colors. As a junior, he racked up 16.5 sacks and led the team to a 9-3 record. “We lined him up at defensive end and told him just chase the ball,” Norman Community Christian coach Mat McIntosh said. Jobe said he learned a lot about football by watching YouTube videos. “Even though I don’t know everything about football I know a lot because I started to go to YouTube and Google and stuff like that,” Jobe said. Local orthopedic surgeon James L. Bond and his wife Susan are Jobe’s host family. His father is Lamin Jobe. His mother, Ndeye Jallow, passed away shortly after he arrived in the U.S. Jobe plans on majoring in business management.

NIL Valuation

Jobe currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $137k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
