BREAKING: 2023 three-star RB Jaelon Barbarin has signed with Michigan State

2023 Simi Valley (CA) Chaminade three-star RB Jaelon Barbarin has signed with Michigan State. Barbarin, standing at 5-foot-9, 180-pounds, originally committed to the Spartans on December 14, 2022. Barbarin held additional offers from Washington State, Kansas State, UNLV, San Jose State, and more. The 2023 On3 Consensus three-star is ranked No. 999 nationally, the No. 72 running back, and the No. 81 player in the state of California.
On3 rates Barbarin a three-star (85.50), the No. 75 running back, and the No. 100 player in the state of California. Barbarin does not have a nationally ranking, according to On3.
“I am overly excited to sign and get on campus!” Barbarin told SpartanMag.com. “MSU offered me more opportunity, and development. Felt like I would get a lot out of MSU inside and outside of football.”
Barbarin, who has elite speed running a 10.37 100m earlier this year, discussed his recent visit to East Lansing and Michigan State’s running back’s coach Effrem Reed.
“I love the energy and the environment of the school,” Barbarin told SpartanMag.com. “I have received a lot of love from the community and interest from the coaching staff. I have been keeping close with Coach (Effrem) Reed, the running back coach.
“I knew Michigan State was the place for me when I visited there and learned about what they had to offer me as a man and as a football player,” Barbarin said. “When I committed to Michigan State, Coach (Mel) Tucker told me he was excited to have me as a player and is ready to use me as a weapon for explosive plays on the field. He was very excited.”

Barbarin currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6.1k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
