Michigan State’s 2024 recruiting class now sits at nine total commitments following the de-commitment Mt. Pleasant (Mich.) High School four-star IOL Andrew Dennis. Dennis committed to the Spartans over offers from Illinois, Baylor, Purdue, and more.

Following the firing of former Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker, the four-star lineman received offers from Penn State, Auburn, Nebraska, Stanford, and more.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman made multiple unofficial visits to East Lansing this fall. Dennis also visited Purdue and Illinois on game days. Penn State is a school to watch as he continues to schedule visits.

The four-star announced his decommitment via social media.

“As everyone knows, the fear of the unknown is scary,” Dennis posted. “When you are a recruit and trying to plan your future, it is even more so. After patiently monitoring the situation, and many conversations with my parents and everyone who has supported me through this process, at this time I have decided to de-commit from Michigan State and reopen my recruitment.

“I will still be considering Michigan State as one of my choices, though. I would like to thank the entire MSU coaching and support staff for the opportunity to be a Spartan. I would especially like to thank Coach (Chris) Kapilovic, and Coach (Jacob) Lail for investing so much time into my recruiting process and believing in my as a football player and as a person. I will be forever grateful for both of you! I would also like to thank the Spartan fans and community for all the love and support. Much love to you Spartan Nation.”

The de-commitment of Dennis comes just a day after Michigan State lost a commitment from three-star defensive back Syair Torrence. Dennis and Torrence are the third and fourth members of the class to back away from their commitments under the current uncertainty.

Dayton (Ohio) Centerville four-star safety Reggie Powers and Tampa (Fla.) Tech three-star cornerback Camren Campbell also de-committed earlier this fall.

Michigan State now holds three commitments on the offensive line including three-star IOL Logan Bennett. The Spartans will welcome three-star offensive tackle commits Charlton Luniewski and Mercer Luniewski over the weekend.
