2024 River Rouge (Mich.) four-star wide receiver Nick Marsh signed with Michigan State on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Marsh originally committed to the Spartans on July 31, 2022, following Spartan Dawg Con. He then re-opened his recruitment on March 7. After a few months worth of visits, Marsh again committed to Michigan State on July 7.

In the wake of Mel Tucker’s firing this fall, Marsh again took visits elsewhere before cancelling a visit to Colorado that was scheduled for the weekend of Dec. 1. Marsh reaffirmed his commitment to Michigan State’s new coaching staff on December 5. He chose the Spartans over offers from Colorado, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Oregon.

Marsh is the No. 162 prospect, No. 28 wide receiver and the No. 3 player from Michigan, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

Scouting Summary

Marsh is a big receiver that has a knack for leaping up and high-pointing the ball. He excelled at a variety of positions in high school, including wide receiver, defensive back, returner and punter. He also lined up as a Wildcat quarterback for River Rouge on occasion.

Marsh displayed above-average speed despite his big frame. His route running improved throughout high school, and it should get even better under Michigan State wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins.

Marsh played one of the toughest schedules in the state during his senior year at River Rouge. During a near-upset of Belleville (Mich.) High School in week one, Marsh scored a kick return touchdown and rushing touchdown as a Wildcat quarterback.

Reminds us of

Marsh wins a lot of jump balls thanks to his impressive athleticism and good body control. Former Michigan State wide receiver Keon Coleman possessed similar traits as a Spartan freshman. Hawkins helped Coleman fine-tune his route running while at Michigan State. Coleman, who transferred to Florida State ahead of the 2023 season, is a projected first round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Personal life

Marsh made an immediate impact for River Rouge’s varsity team. He helped the Panthers earn a state championship during his freshman season, and then continued to turn heads as a sophomore and a junior. He eventually earned the nickname “Baby Megatron” because of his ability to go up and get the football like former Detroit Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson. Marsh is also close with his mother, Yolanda Wilson, who is affectionately known as “Mama Tron” on social media.
