Live updates: Four-star OL Amir Herring choosing between Michigan, Nebraska, Boston College, Missouri at commitment ceremony
It’s commitment day for 2023 West Bloomfield (Mich.) High four-star interior offensive lineman Amir Herring. Michigan Wolverines football is firmly in the mix, a finalist to secure his pledge.
The finalists along with the Wolverines are Boston College, Missouri and Nebraska.
Herring is the No. 276 overall player, No. 17 interior offensive lineman and fourth-best prospect in the state of Michigan, per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Herring took official visits to all four finalists last month — Nebraska June 3, Boston College June 10, Michigan June 17 and Missouri June 24. The Cornhuskers appeared to be the favorite at the beginning of June, but Michigan put on the full-court press towards the middle of the month and is now the top contender.
Michigan holds a commanding lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. TheWolverine.com‘s EJ Holland placed an expert prediction for Herring to land at Michigan last December, while Nebraska On3 insider Bryan Munson projected the four-star to end up in Ann Arbor with a pick earlier this week.
Herring has a $9,500 On3 NIL Valuation, which is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college-level athletes. The On3 NIL Valuation is comprised of many dynamic data points that focus on three primary categories: Social media following and engagement, athlete data, achievements, performance and media sentiment and endorsement deals, opportunities and collectives.
If Herring chooses Michigan, he’d become the ninth commitment in the Wolverines’ 2023 class, which is currently ranked 32nd in the nation.
