After a redshirt season with the Zips, Wasel is coming home. He begins his OU journey as a walk-on, and we’ll see where things go from there.
You obviously cannot expect much from Wasel when it comes to on-field stuff, but he can be huge in other areas. Scout team, practice reps. Venables says every little piece matters. The inclusion of Wasel is no different. Learn the system and work from there.
2024 quarterback outlook
There’s a new QB1 in Norman and his name is Jackson Arnold. The sophomore takes over for Dillon Gabriel, now at Oregon. And the expectations couldn’t be higher for the former five-star. OU’s season will largely hinder on how well Arnold performs. But the Sooners have more than Arnold, as the room has totally reformed in recent years. Former Texas, Nebraska and FAU quarterback Casey Thompson transferred to OU to be a savvy, veteran backup. While freshmen Michael Hawkins and Brendan Zurbrugg are also competing for roles next season.
