Josh Conerly Jr. Previews Penn State
Oregon offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. spoke with media Tuesday to preview Oregon’s Big Ten Championship matchup with Penn State and discussed edge rusher Abdul Carter, conference championship game experience, and more. Below are the most notable questions and quotes from his interview as well as my thoughts at the end.
On Penn State Edge Rusher Abdul Carter:
“I’d say he’s one of the better ones we’ve faced all year for sure. He’s really quick off the ball and he’s just a freak of nature.”
On the Nittany Lions’ Defensive Front at Large:
“It’s definitely going to be a fun challenge. They’re all pretty solid, interior and on the edge. We’re getting to see that upper tier of competition.”
On Conference Championship Experience:
“Yesterday it was a year ago exactly and I was getting all of the (Snapchat) memories for it and watched the game back. It’s definitely a motivator that we’ve all been using to fuel us throughout the season.”

On Being Active with Pull Blocks Against Washington:
“It’s pretty fun to get out moving. Putting my athletic ability on display and gotta thank coach (Will) Stein for that.”
Linden’s Take:
Conerly will have a big assignment in front of him with Carter and Penn State’s line as a whole. I don’t have any doubt that he’s up to it as he’s played some of his best ball in the last few games.
The Nittany Lions defensive front is arguably their biggest strength and will likely be the best Oregon has faced all year. Like Conerly said, however, motivation is not exactly hard to find for this one.
