4-star athlete Tae Johnson sets commitment date

Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side four-star athlete Tae Johnson is nearing the end of his recruitment. Johnson announced on Twitter that he’ll make his college decision on June 24.
Johnson is the No. 160 overall prospect and No. 5 athlete in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Indiana.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Notre Dame is the heavy favorite to land a pledge from the 6-foot-3, 170-pounder. The Fighting Irish currently sit with a 95% chance to land Johnson’s commitment.
On April 25 Johnson dropped a top-10 of Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Colorado, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Michigan State, Missouri, Penn State, Purdue and Tennessee.
Johnson’s visited Notre Dame more than any other school up to this point in his recruitment. He’s been to South Bend seven times including twice this year.
He visited in January and was back on June 9 for an official visit.
Johnson told Blue and Gold that as of early March, Notre Dame is the only school recruiting him as safety. The other schools recruiting him are looking at him to play as a wide receiver at the next level.
“I’m trying to go to the National Football League,” Johnson told On3 in early March. “Also, the success rate for after football. Because I’m not going to play football all my life, there’s going to be an end date to that. So I need to know that if I go there, will I still be able to live and function good after football.”
Tae Johnson currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $93K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
