Initial availability report for Texas Tech is star-studded

The initial availability report for Texas Tech is star-studded ahead of its hotly-anticipated road trip to Arizona State. The Red Raiders will be without a key cog while the status of several others is still up in the air.
Gill-Howard’s fate for this week is determined
Though the initial signs for Skyler Gill-Howard were positive, he will have to wait at least another week to get back on the field— he was listed as OUT on the initial report. Nearly a week ago, medical staff carted the star defensive tackle off the field during the Red Raiders’ win over Kansas. Despite the best efforts of him, the training and medical staff, Gill-Howard was unable to continue playing against the Jayhawks.
On Monday, head coach Joey McGuire said the team was planning on sending Gill-Howard to a specialist in Dallas.
“Skyler is a little bit different. We’ll know a lot more by Thursday… We want to send him to an expert in Dallas to see how fast we can get him back and exactly what possibly we need to do. He’s going to be a little bit more questionable.”
Gill-Howard donned his full uniform with a boot on during the Kansas game. His outlook is still trending upward after he had an aircast placed on his leg.
Morton headlines star-studded questionable lineup
After reaggravating an injury previously suffered in the season opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Behren Morton is once again listed as questionable ahead of a game. Morton left the Kansas game after getting his leg rolled up early in the second quarter. Even with Morton’s status uncertain, McGuire expressed confidence in the situation during his press conference Monday.
“If this was a normal situation, I would be in a full blown panic,” McGuire said. “I’d also be more in a panic I didn’t have Will Hammond, you know, and honestly, and we haven’t really seen him other than late, but Mitch Griffis. I mean, those, those guys play off each other so well, and Mack (Leftwich) and Lindsey Scott do a good job of those preparing those guys.”
Morton– alongside premier edge rusher Romello Height– make up the bulk of the star-studded cast listed questionable. Hunter Zambrano, who has not played since the Red Raiders’ third game of the season against Oregon State, is questionable.
It is unclear at this time what Height or Zambrano’s specific injuries are.
