Michigan State added a sixth member to its 2024 recruiting class on June 24, landing On300 four-star running back Anthony Carrie following his official visit. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound back made his third trip to East Lansing over the weekend. Carrie was hosted by former high school teammate and 2023 Michigan State signee Eddie Pleasant during his visit. Despite playing on the opposite sides of the ball at Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day, the two have a strong friendship.

The four-star moved up his trip to Michigan State after originally planning to visit June 23-25. Carrie cancelled his visit Notre Dame that he had scheduled for this past weekend. The commitment comes ahead of a previously scheduled official visit to North Carolina on June 16. The four-star has since cancelled his trip to Chapel Hill. South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss were also finalists as Carrie narrowed his offer list from over 40 down to six schools.

“I have visited Michigan State twice and it feels like family there,” Carrie told SpartanMag in March. “It is somewhere I could see myself going. They had Kenneth Walker III, so they showed what they can do with great backs. It feels like home and family.”

Michigan State running backs coach Effrem Reed led the charge recruiting Carrie and building the relationship between the two for some time now.

“We just have had the most consistent communication and relationship building so that stuck out. Once I went up there, it was like family. It felt like I belonged there,” Carrie said. “There was no awkward silences or awkward moments meeting the coaches. It was natural so that spoke to me because I am big on vibes and energy

Carrie is ranked the No. 284 recruit in the nation, according to the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. The four-star is also the No. 24 running back and the No. 42 recruit in the state of Florida.

The Spartans now hold six commitments in its 2024 recruiting class. Carrie joins three-star Mt. Pleasant (Mich.) High School OL Andrew Dennis and Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy three-star OL Logan Bennett on the offensive side of the ball. Michigan State also recently added a pair of defensive backs in Dayton (Ohio) Centerville High School four-star defensive back Reggie Powers, along with Tampa Bay (Fla.) Technical Camren Campbell. The pair join Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale three-star defensive back Jaylen Thompson.
