Syracuse adds garbage time touchdown
10/04/2025 05:36:35 PMThe ‘Cuse defense forced a safety when SMU was pinned deep and took advantage of the extra possession by scoring a touchdown. SMU leads 31-18 with 4:57 remaining after Syracuse failed to convert its two-point attempt. .
Rickie Collins runs one in for ‘Cuse
10/04/2025 05:20:31 PMThe Syracuse quarterback has used his legs plenty in this game and made SMU pay this time. Collins ran into the end zone from six yards out to cut into the SMU lead. The Mustangs remain on top 31-10 with 9:59 left in regulation.

10/04/2025 05:11:20 PMOn 1st and goal, Jordan Hudson caught a screen pass and ran over a couple of Syracuse defenders to complete the nine-yard score. SMU adds to its lead, 31-3 with 12:37 left in the fourth quarter. A positive start for the Mustangs to begin the fourth quarter.
End of 3rd quarter: SMU 24 – Syracuse 3
10/04/2025 05:00:28 PMA quiet quarter ensued to start the second half as neither offense was able to hit their stride. SMU is 15 minutes away from being 1-0 in ACC play. Jennings is having a stellar game at QB : 22-26 for 219 yards and three passing touchdowns. Mustangs looking to close this one out as they have the ball to start the fourth quarter.

10/04/2025 04:02:37 PMThe SMU football team played complimentary football for the first time this season and it showed. The defense consistently got off the field while the offense put together drives which resulted in touchdowns. Syracuse got on the board with a 38-yard field goal as time expired to end the first half and will get the ball to start the second half. Great first 30 minutes for SMU.

10/04/2025 03:50:01 PMSyracuse is 2/5 on fourth downs so far, which has led to the SMU defense getting off the field. On the most recent drive, the Mustang offense drove right down the field, going 90 yards on six plays capped off by a 14-yard jet-sweep touchdown for Derrick McFall. This is the best half of football for the Ponies so far this season. SMU leads 24-0 with 2:00 left to play in the first half.
RJ Maryland TD – SMU up big
10/04/2025 03:30:25 PMThe SMU defense stuffed Syracuse again on fourth and short for another turnover on downs. The Mustang offense kept the momentum rolling with some explosive plays, including the 16-yard receiving touchdown by RJ Maryland to put SMU up 17-0; 8:02 remaining in the first half.

10/04/2025 03:17:54 PMJennings floated a ball on third down which allowed wide receiver Yamir Knight to catch up to it and take the ball into the end zone. SMU now leads 10-0 with 12:58 left in the second quarter. Jennings is currently 9-12 for 85 yards and a touchdown – a strong start to the game for the junior quarterback. Yamir Knight now has touchdown catches in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, the SMU offense settled for a field goal on their third drive and are currently moving the football well. SMU will have a first and 10 at the ‘Cuse 44 to start the second quarter.

10/04/2025 03:03:40 PMMustang linebacker Brandon Miyazono made a great play to intercept Rickie Collins’ pass to set SMU up in the red zone. The Mustang offense had to settle for three as Sam Keltner drilled a 26-yard field goal. SMU leads 3-0 with 2:28 left in the first quarter.
Up-and-down start for SMU
10/04/2025 02:50:37 PMThe Mustangs started the game with a three-and-out on offense and a shank of a punt which gave Syracuse great field position. The Orange drove down the field and got all the way down to the one-yard line. Unfortunately for the visitors, the SMU defense stuffed Syracuse on third and fourth and goal to keep the Orange of the board. The score remains 0-0 with 6:39 remaining in the first quarter. A great stop by the Mustang defense.
