Deep Dive: Colin Simmons and Ethan Burke are dominating opposing offenses

Ian Boyd and Paul Wadlington look at a handful of plays from Simmons and Burke from recent weeks. The two look at Simmons’ sack-fumble-recovery against Diego Pavia, highlighting his incredible athleticism. They then look at Ethan Burke’s late sack against the Commodores that almost ended the game, a play where his strength was on full display.

Over the past two games, Burke has 10 tackles with 5.0 for loss, 3.0 sacks, and one forced fumble. Simmons has 11 tackles with 1.5 for loss, 1.0 sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. They go through a couple more plays where both Simmons and Burke converge on Pavia.

The two conclude with a look at some of the Longhorns’ coverage busts against Vanderbilt, including some of the scoring plays that fueled the fourth-quarter comeback. Lack of retained knowledge in certain coverages, miscommunications, and getting just plain beat created the close game.
