In early September 2020, Oscar Delp had a breakout game and his recruitment took off. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end out of Cumming (Ga.) West Forsyth was picking up offers daily. Now, after taking over a year to evaluate schools, the no. 86 player in the country is ready to make his decision.

“I will be committing to Clemson, Georgia, Michigan or South Carolina October 13 at my high school,” Delp said. “That gives me time to get my final visits in and make sure of my decision.”

The decision will be revealed that Wednesday night on Fox 5 news around 6:50pm ET.

Delp is the no. 3 tight end and the no. 86 player in the country on On3.

He is excited about his upcoming decision.

“The recruiting process has been stressful, but in a good way. I am blessed to be in this position and I am happy with how everything has gone.

“It is not easy, but it is a good stress because it means I am in a great spot. I have taken my time, I have taken many visits and I am looking forward to October 13.”

The final four for Delp

He cut his list to the final four schools in the middle of August and he has since taken visits to Clemson, Georgia and South Carolina. He has one more visit to Columbia lined up before he makes his decision.

Michigan will not receive a visit, but Delp has family there, he knows a lot about the history in Ann Arbor, and the Wolverines are still a strong contender.

“I am very comfortable with each of the four schools on my list,” Delp said. “It came down to relationships, and I feel great with coaches at each of these schools.”

Delp plans to have Tiger, Bulldog, Wolverine, and Gamecocks hats on the table October 13.

How close is Delp to a final decision?

The four-star is not there yet. He still needs a few weeks to make that decision, but he feels he is close.

“I have an idea of the school now, but I am not 100-percent ready,” Delp said. “After I go to South Carolina for the Troy game, I will really sit down, think more about it, and make my decision.

“I expect to make my decision about a week before I announce it. I know I still have time to get it done. That is what I set the date for October 13. I want to make sure of everything.”

Delp knows what will play important roles in his decision.

“The most important thing for me overall is feeling comfortable and at home. I know I have to go to school there and live there for four years, so that home feeling is no. 1 for me.

“After that, it comes down to my relationships with the coaches, the fan base, and how the schools use the tight ends in their offense. All those things are important to me too.”
