Minnesota RB commit Jett Walker flips to Texas
The Minnesota Golden Gophers have lost a commitment. On Sunday evening, Georgetown (TX) running back Jett Walker announced his decision to flip his commitment to the Texas Longhorns following an official visit to Austin for the Longhorns’ matchup against Arkansas.
Walker previously committed to the Golden Gophers on November 3, flipping his commitment away from the West Virginia Mountaineers. But Walker’s commitment this time would last less than three weeks.
Texas’s pursuit of Walker much like the Gophers’ was a late one in his recruitment. The Longhorns who have been keeping their eye on the central Texas standout for several years only offered Walker 10-days ago. The Longhorns worked very quickly in getting Walker on campus for an official visit.
The loss of Walker for the Golden Gophers stings but it is not a huge blow to the program as they still hold two commitments from running back prospects in the 2026 recruiting class from four-star Texas standout Ryan Estrada and three-star Pennsylvania talent Ezekiel Bates.
Walker is ranked by the Rivals Industry Rankings as the No. 697th overall prospect, No. 81st ranked running back, and No. 113 player in Texas for the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Minnesota currently holds 30 commitments overall in their 2026 recruiting class which ranks 31st in the national recruiting rankings, 20 spots higher than their 2026 recruiting class that finished 51st. The class also ranks ninth in the Big Ten.
