It’s been a busy offseason of current Florida Gators announcing their intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer portal. The latest name planning to enter their name into the portal once it opens on Jan. 2 is redshirt sophomore wide receiver Eugene Wilson III. Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett was the first to report the news of Wilson’s intentions to transfer.

Eugene Wilson III saw early success at Florida

Eugene Wilson III entered the Florida program with lofty expectations. On3 ranked him as a 5-star prospect and the No. 32 overall recruit. He impacted the program early as a freshman, starting 7 games that season. In year 1, Eugene Wilson finished with a team-high six touchdown catches. Furthermore, he was second on the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving yards per game.

He took a step back in year two, but dealt with injuries that season. Wilson redshirted, but totaled 266 receiving yards and one touchdown on 19 receptions.

He was lost in the shuffle during the 2025 season. He started 5 games, and caught 27 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns.

Eugene Wilson III is the 19th Florida Gator scholarship player to announce their intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason. Other names with plans to move on from the program include freshman wide receiver Muizz Tounkara, redshirt sophomore wide receiver Aidan Mizell, sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway, redshirt freshman running back KD Daniels, redshirt freshman tight end Amir Jackson, redshirt freshman safety Josiah Davis, redshirt freshman cornerback Teddy Foster, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Marcus Mascoll, sophomore wide receiver Tank Hawkins, junior linebacker Grayson Howard, redshirt freshman cornerback Jameer Grimsley, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Enoch Wangoy, redshirt wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Noel Portnjagin, redshirt junior tight end Hayden Hansen, sophomore defensive lineman Michai Boireau, and junior safety Jordan Castell.
