Jhop's CFB Top Ten Following Week One

Everyone else on the planet makes a top ten, why shouldn’t I? Whether I should or I shouldn’t won’t change the fact that I will.
I tweeted it a few times, but we had some massive overreaction’s on Sunday. From local and national media alike. There’s a reason not everyone gets to vote.
I won’t pretend that I got to watch every game this weekend. Nobody did. But most are just voting on outcomes anyways.
USC certainly surprised a lot of folks. The defense was much improved and the offense was solid. That said, LSU was not very good. They were very suspect in the secondary, undisciplined and I really can’t figure out how they didn’t lean on the run game more. Even with the win, I can’t put USC in my top ten just yet but they are a lot closer now.

As for Oregon, yes I’m dropping the Ducks based on the week one performance. But not out of the top ten. That feels like a massive overreaction but I won’t dispute they need to get better.
Back in the Spring I had a top five of Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Ole Miss and Texas in that order. I’ll change it a bit but not too much given it’s just week one.
- Georgia – Dominant as expected. They were my No. 1 back in the Spring.
- Ohio State – Great team. Perhaps a bit sluggish to start but it’s week one. Don’t overreact.
- Texas – I still think this Texas team slips up. But they handled week one.
- Ole Miss – Had them at No. 4 in the Spring as well. Lane has them rolling early.
- Alabama – I moved them up from the Spring from 9. Still not sure Jalen Milroe is the answer.
- Oregon – I’m not a total homer. Down from 3 to 6. A correction but not an overreaction.
- Miami – 7-10 is a pick em. Miami looked sharp but Florida sucks. Good opening week for MC.
- Tennessee – This might be a top five team. I’m not sure yet but Nico can sling it.
- Penn State – I have my doubts still. Allar can sling it but I’m not sure Penn St. is a complete team.
- Notre Dame – Good win for Marcus Freeman but let’s not pretend that was a very good A&M team.
