Newsstand: Big Ten Media Days get underway in Las Vegas

Big Ten Media Days have arrived. On Tuesday morning at the Mandalay Bay on the Las Vegas Strip, the Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti will meet with the media to discuss this upcoming season. He’ll then be followed by six other programs.
Ahead of Tuesday’s time with the media, Petitti met with Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger to discuss several topics including the College Football Playoff. While the SEC is wanting a 16-team playoff field (5-plus-11), the Big Ten instead is still in favor of the 13-team model (4-4-2-2-1). The major difference is that the 16-team field would be the five highest-ranked conference champions with 11 at-large spots while the 4-4-2-21- model is four teams for both the SEC and Big Ten, two for the ACC and Big 12, one for the Group of Six, and three at-large teams.

Petitti will surely field questions about several other notable targets on Tuesday including the continued debates surrounding NIL legislation including a potential national NIL standard that could come in the form of an executive order from President Donald Trump. He will also surely receive questions on the Michigan Wolverines and his recent letter defending the Wolverines and the penalties they have received for their sign-stealing scandal.
After Petitti’s 30-minutes conclude, the media will get 15-minutes with Bret Bielema (Illinois), Greg Schiano (Rutgers), Curt Cignetti (Indiana), Mike Locksley (Maryland), Matt Rhule (Nebraska), and Ryan Day (Ohio State).
Media Days will continue on Tuesday with P.J. Fleck (Minnesota), David Braun (Northwestern), Luke Fickell (Wisconsin), Dan Lanning (Oregon), Jedd Fisch (Washington), and James Franklin (Penn State). On Wednesday, Kirk Ferentz (Iowa), Barry Odom (Purdue), DeShaun Foster (UCLA), Jonathan Smith (Michigan State), Lincoln Riley (USC), and Sherrone Moore (Michigan) will close out the media days.
