Minnesota football freshmen participation tracker week three: California

After seven true freshmen saw the field in week two against the Northwestern State Demons, the Minnesota football program’s freshmen participation in week three against California, unsurprisingly, dwindled. Here’s who appeared and how they performed.

LB Emmanuel Karmo

Karmo saw a season high 17 snaps against Cal and in the process, had a quality game with one sack and two total quarterback pressures. Through his first three career games, Karmo has flashed when on the field. The Minnesota native was ranked as a top-400 player in the Industry Rankings and the No. 1 player in Minnesota

QB Jackson Kollock

The three-star quarterback did not play against California. The Laguna Beach, California native is buried on the depth charter behind Drake Lindsey, Max Shikenjanski, and Emmett Morehead.

DL Jayquan Stubbs

Stubbs did not play in the Gophers’ week three matchup. The Cleveland, Ohio, native was ranked as the No. 575 player nationally in the industry rankings.

DE Enoch Atewogbola

The Avon, Indiana, native did not see the field against Cal. Atewogbola was ranked as the No. 652 player in the industry rankings, but was ranked by On3 as a four-star prospect and top-300 player nationally.

LB Ethan Stendel

The Caledonia, Minnesota native appeared on special teams for the Gophers against Northwestern State but did not play against California. Stendel was ranked as the No. 688 player in the industry rankings. Like Atewogbola, On3 was higher on the former Caledonia standout than others in the industry, ranking him as a four-star prospect, the No. 300 player nationally, and the No. 1 player in Minnesota.

WR Legend Lyons

The California wide receiver was not listed on the availability report this week but did not appear in the game. He was ranked as the No. 722 player nationally in the industry rank

OL Mark Handy

Handy did not appear in any games through three weeks. The La Cueva (NM) standout was ranked as the No. 882 player in the industry rankings.

DL Abu Tarawallie

Tarawallie did not play in the Gophers’ week three matchup. The Minneapolis native was ranked as the No. 946 player in the industry rankings.

CB Zack Harden

Harden, after playing against Northwestern State, did not play against California. The Covington, Georgia native was ranked as the No. 1010 player in the industry rankings.

OL Daniel Shipp

Shipp did not play against California. The Corona, California native was ranked as the No. 1210 player in the industry rankings.

CB Naiim Parrish

Parrish, after playing over 20 snaps in week two against Northwestern State, did not play against California. The Bergen Catholic (NJ) prospect was ranked the No. 1269 player in the industry rankings.

OL Kaveon Lee

Lee did not participate in the Gophers’ week three matchup. He was ranked as the No. 1284 player in the industry rankings.

RB Xavier Ford

Ford did not play against California. The former Louisiana prospect was ranked in the industry rankings as the No. 1356 player and a top-50 player in the state of Louisiana.

RB Trey Berry

Berry did not play against California. The Alabama native was the No. 1486 player in the industry rankings.

OL Nick Spence

Spence did not play against California. He was ranked as a borderline top-1500 player in the industry rankings.

RB Grant Washington

After a 20-carry, 126-yard performance against Northwestern State in week two. Washington did not play in week three against California. Washington was a Rivals industry ranking three-star prospect and a top-125 running back nationally.

LB Nathan Cleveland

Cleveland did not play against California. The Illinois native was the No. 1651 player in the industry rankings.

DE Colin Hansen

Hansen did not play in week two. The Byron, Minnesota native was considered a top-1700 player nationally as well as a top-10 player in Minnesota.

DE Rhett Hlavacka

Hlavacka did not play in the Gophers’ loss to California. He was considered the No. 1724 player in the industry rankings, including a top-15 player in Wisconsin.

P Luke Ryerse

Ryerse did not play in week three. The former East Ridge (MN) standout was considered the No. 18 punter in the industry rankings.

K Daniel Jackson

Daniel Jackson did not play against California.
