Minnesota opens as huge underdog to No. 9 Oregon

The Minnesota Golden Gophers have opened as a big underdog to No. 9 Oregon for their week 12 matchup in Eugene on Friday night.
The Gophers (6-3, 4-2) have opened as a 23.5-point favorite to the Ducks (8-1, 5-1). The 23.5 point spread is the largest underdog spread this season for the Gophers, tying their 23.5-point spread against Ohio State. The Gophers would eventually lose that game 42-3.
The total for the game is currently set at 45.5 points.
The Gophers this season in nine games are 2-6-1 against the spread including 0-3-0 as a road team. All three of the Gophers’ losses this season have come on the road. Oregon this season is 5-4 against the spread including 3-2 at Autzen Stadium.
The Ducks have lost just two home games under head coach Dan Lanning since 2022, a 37-34 loss to Washington in 2022 and a 30-20 loss to Indiana earlier this season.
Minnesota and Oregon have met four times all time, their last meeting coming in 2003, a 31-30 win for the Gophers in the Sun Bowl. The two programs have also met in 1961, 1975, and 1999.
Kickoff on Friday is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. CT with the game televised nationally on Fox.
