The Minnesota Golden Gophers men’s basketball program has picked up its second commitment of the 2026 recruiting cycle as in-state small forward Nolen Anderson has announced his decision.

Anderson joins East Ridge (MN) standout point guard Cedric Tomes as commitments in the Gophers’ 2026 recruiting class. He chose Minnesota over offers from Northern Iowa, Drake, Virginia Tech, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Toledo, Montana, and Ohio.

Anderson’s stock has taken off over the last several months, going from a budding prospect to a flourishing one. After picking up offers from the University of Illinois-Chicago, Northern Iowa, Ohio, Illinois State, and Montana last year, he added offers from Drake, Toledo, Minnesota, and Virginia Tech since the beginning of the year.

On top of being a standout for Wayzata, Anderson also plays for D1 Minnesota, where he is teammates with fellow Gophers commit Cedric Tomes as well as standouts such as Dothan Ijadimbola, Babaoucarr Ann, Ryan Kreager, Jaidyn Coon, and Christian Wiggins, among others.

According to the Minnesota Basketball Hub, Anderson last year for Wayzata averaged 17.5 points per game while shooting 38.6% from the field and 40.9% from three-point range (9-of-22). His 17.5 points per game were second on Wayzata, only behind Christian Wiggins, who averaged 19.1 points per game.

In an 80-55 win over Cretin-Derham Hall in the Class 4A State Championship game, Anderson and Wiggins were unstoppable.

Anderson totaled 24 points, making 10-of-17 attempts from the floor, including 4-of-8 from three-point range, while also contributing 10 rebounds. Wiggins added 21 points and five rebounds of his own.

Wiggins, a Minnesota target of his own, has been committed to Iowa State since mid-April. He’s ranked by Rivals as the No. 100 player nationally, including the No. 26 shooting guard and No. 1 player within the state.
