EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald will retain tight ends coach Brian Wozniak, SpartanMag confirmed on Sunday.

Wozniak followed Jonathan Smith from Oregon State to Michigan State in 2023. He served as the Spartans’ tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for the past two seasons.

Wozniak held the same positions at Oregon State from 2018-23. He mentored current NFL tight ends Luke Musgrave and Teagan Quitoriano during his time in Corvallis. Wozniak developed four All-Pac 12 selections at Oregon State.

Wozniak began his coaching career as an offensive graduate assistant at Oregon State (2015-17). He later became an offensive quality control analyst before taking over the tight end room in 2018. The Loveland, Ohio, native played at Wisconsin from 2010-13.

Since arriving at Michigan State, Wozniak has assisted in the development of tight ends such as Jack Velling, Michael Masunas and Kai Rios, among others. Velling will graduate this offseason, but given Wozniak’s return, the Spartans’ chances of retaining their other tight ends should increase exponentially.

Wozniak helped sign redshirt freshman tight end Wyatt Hook as part of Michigan State’s 2024 class. Hook saw action on special teams over the last six games of the 2025 season.

Michigan State signed in-state tight end Jayden Savoury as part of its 2025 class. Savoury caught one pass for 16 yards in four games this fall. He ended up redshirting.

Michigan State will hire Nick Sheridan as its offensive coordinator and retain Courtney Hawkins as wide receivers coach. Fitzgerald is still in the market for an offensive line coach and running backs coach. It remains to be seen if the Spartans will add a separate quarterbacks coach, or if Sheridan will handle those duties, as he did at Alabama.
