On the Bye Week:

“This bye week was important for us because we had a lot of tough games we played and I feel like the biggest thing was just recovering and getting our bodies right. It was also a great week mentally, just to talk to our coaches, talk to Coach Lanning about things we need to work on and from the past weeks and improvement plans as a unit and also as a personnel team. But overall, it was a great week just to get our minds back, right? Get our body feeling ready to get going for this week. So it was important for sure.”

On the Added Attention:

“Yeah, I give all the glory to God. You know, ever since, like I said, you know, seventh grade when I got my first offer, it was from that day on, it’s kind of been, you know, in things, media, people talking about me, and it’s been, it’s true blessings, because, you know, everything in my life was never just given to me, I had to work for it.

And I just know with my hard work and dedication to the game of football, that things will come and, you know, fall in your hands. So overall, I mean, you know, these are all blessings, all great things as a kid, you know, you dream of.

But overall, I think Jabbar Muhammad said it best is, you know, team success, that’s when player success comes with it. I feel like overall, 1-0 every week is our mindset as a team. And without, you know, the receivers, without the o-linemen, you know, not giving up any sacks, I mean, without the people around me, I would never have what I have now. So, overall, I feel like none of these things that are coming are just stuff I’m doing by myself.

It’s a team thing. So, but it’s just blessings, though. Like I said, I give glory to God.”

Reflecting on his Journey to this point:

“Yeah, it was kind of funny after the Penn State game, when I was so emotional, everybody’s like, man, this guy’s acting like they just won a national championship. And you know, overall, it’s just people don’t understand how much prep and work was put into that week. I mean, if I told my younger self, you’re about to play in front of 112,000 in a white-out, top five hardest atmospheres in the world to play in, I mean, and we went in double overtime, it’s just a crazy situation.

But overall, I mean, it’s so much work that gets put in. You know, this past year, just learning from Dillon, like me just making the great decision just to learn and, you know, sit back a year. It’s just so much tension was built up. And when I took the field against Penn State and I looked at Poncho in his eyes, he looked at me and I have confidence in the team, even my teammates, they have confidence in me.

So I just feel like just playing in these big stages, these big environments, you know, this week’s college game day, these are just things that we just, you know, worked hard for. So, overall, like I said, I get really emotional. I get, you know, real particular just on myself about things is because I worked so damn hard for it.”

On Indiana:

“Yeah, Indiana, they’re 5-0 for a reason. They’re a great team. They have a great head coach. They have great players. It’s another great week just to go play another opponent. I feel like overall, they have great schemes.

They have great players on the defensive side of the ball. Offense is great. I feel like overall, it’s gonna be be a great week. It’s going to be a great competitive match, but it’s another great team and we’re ready to get going.”
