Michigan's Citrus Bowl prep continues without Sherrone Moore
To say it’s been an eventful week for the Michigan football program would be an understatement. But in spite of everything that’s happened, the Wolverines are carrying on as if they will be in Orlando on December 31 for a Citrus Bowl matchup with Texas
Sherrone Moore was fired on Wednesday for carrying on an inappropriate relationship with a member of his staff. Moore then was arrested and was arraigned on multiple charges earlier this afternoon.
As that was happening, the Wolverines were practicing with interim coach Biff Poggi leading the program.
If there were any concerns about Michigan backing out of the Citrus Bowl, it looks like those can be put to bed.

It makes sense for Michigan to carry on without Moore. Keeping players in the facility in Ann Arbor is a preferrable path for U-M. If they were to have sent current Wolverines home, who knows what would have gotten to those cell phones via agents, other staffs, or friends in other programs.
Another notable part of that social media post? Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood is front and center in the third picture. Earlier this week, On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Underwood’s contract with Michigan does not have a buyout clause. That’s college football in 2025 for you. However, Underwood’s continued presence in practice in leadership positions — he’s breaking the team down, after all — indicates he’ll be part of Texas’ defensive gameplan in less than three weeks.
Paul Wadlington broke down players who may opt out for the Wolverines earlier this week. The players involved may grow in number without Moore leading the program.
But at this point, Texas and Michigan both are preparing for a football game on December 31.
