Minnesota loses commitment from DT KJ Henson
Last month, Minnesota picked up a trio of commitments from Hutchinson Community College prospects in wide receiver Derrick Salley, safety MJ Graham, and defensive tackle KJ Henson.
Less than a month later, all three have decommitted. After Salley and Graham decommitted from the program late last month, flipping their commitments to Kansas State, Henson announced his decision to decommit on Wednesday afternoon during national signing day.
“I want to thank the entire Minnesota staff for believing in me and offering me the opportunity to be a part of your program,” Henson said in a statement. “After careful consideration, I have decided to de-commit, and my recruitment is 100% open.”
Prior to his commitment, he also held offers from North Texas, Colorado State, Kansas, Kansas State, Purdue, and Toledo, among other notables.
Minnesota on Wednesday signed a 31-member recruiting class, which ranks No. 29 in the national recruiting rankings, up 22 spots from last year’s finish of No. 51. Among those signees was wide receiver Josiah Dozier, who decommitted from USF recently before announcing his commitment on Wednesday.
Henson would’ve been in line for potential immediate playing time in the 2026 season for the Gophers as they lose multiple defensive tackles this offseason in Deven Eastern, Jalen Logan-Redding, and Rushawn Lawrence.
