LIVE BLOG: Iowa Women's Basketball vs UConn

It’s Women’s Champions Classic time in Brooklyn. The 11th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes are set to face off against the top-ranked UConn Huskies. It will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs, including the fourth time in the last five seasons. Tipoff is set for 12:30pm CT on FOX with Jason Benetti and Sarah Kustok on the call.

The Hawkeyes enter with a 10-1 record, including wins over #15 Baylor, Miami FL and Fairfield. Their lone loss came back on December 10th, falling to #10 Iowa State 74-69 at Hilton Coliseum in Ames. Head coach Jan Jensen is in her second season with the program, posting a 33-12 record. As for the Huskies, they enter with an undefeated 11-0 record, including wins over #6 Michigan, #16 Louisville, #19 USC and #21 Ohio State. They are led by 41st year head coach Geno Auriemma, who has a 1,261–165 overall record and 23 Final Four appearances. UConn won the national title last season, finishing with a 37-3 record.

Iowa has turned it over 15 times to just four turnovers for UConn. The Huskies are outscoring Iowa 21-5 in points off turnovers.

UConn has forced 70 turnovers in four games against AP Top 25 teams (17.5 per game). Obviously 15 in a half is far too many, but Ohio State turned it over 25 times and USC turned it over 20 times.

The biggest correction for the second half is just limiting those mistakes. It’s 29-26 Iowa in non-off turnover points.

We are just under two hours from tipoff between the Hawkeyes and Huskies at the Shark Beauty Women’s Champions Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The injury report is as expected for the Hawkeyes. Emely Rodriguez (suspended) is out, as is Jada Gyamfi (knee).
