ESPN Releases Final SP+ Rankings
ESPN has a number of rankings they release each season. One of the more unique rankings is their SP+ formula.
Earlier today ESPN released its top 25 and Oregon made the cut. But just barely.
Before we get to the list, here’s a little about ESPN’s SP+ and the formula. Consider it more of a ‘power ranking’ than an AP Top 25 ranking or something similar.

As mentioned previously, these are based on three primary factors: returning production (final rankings for which you can find at the bottom of this piece), recent recruiting and recent history. How good have you been recently? Who do you have coming back? How good are the players replacing those you don’t have coming back?
Given those factors, Oregon checked in at No. 24 on the list, barely making the top 25 cut. The Pac-12 was represented by Utah at No. 12. No other Pac-12 schools made the cut.
