Oregon Football Practice notes 8.12
The Ducks were in full pads for the first time Thursday, which of course means an uptick in physicality.
The last drill that reporters saw during the portion that was open to the media featured the offensive and defensive line groups going head-to-head, with defensive players working on shedding double teams.
It was the only drill that deviated from the typical stretching, warmups and non-contact positional work that we’ve been seeing all camp. But it was still great to hear the click-clack of pads.
During quarterback drills, Anthony Brown continued to take the No. 1 reps. No surprise there. But it was Robby Ashford taking the No. 2 reps Thursday, which came as a bit of a surprise after he sat out some of the throwing drills on Tuesday.
The group of players that were off to the side doing mobility and recovery work today was a bit larger than it was Tuesday — and featured a few notable names.

Jaylon Redd was still with that group, as was Mase Funa. When reporters were last allowed access to practice Tuesday, Funa was not with that group.
Jonah Miller, Avante Dickerson, Jeffrey Basa and Jabril McNeil were also limited to mobility and recovery work.
There was still no sign of DJ Johnson Thursday. Mario Cristobal said last week that Johnson will join the Ducks for camp “soon” and did not give any further information.
