Scouting WKU QB Maverick McIvor

Maverick McIvor will make his 41st career start at quarterback for the Hilltoppers on Tuesday night at Joe Aillet Stadium. In McIvor’s last game versus FIU, the 25-year old gunslinger completed 20 of 31 passes for 159 yards and 3 interceptions, earning a season-worst 42.7 PFF Grade.
Career Recap
As a high school senior in 2018, McIvor decided to remain in his home state and play for Matt Wells during his first season at Texas Tech. McIvor qualified for a medical redshirt during his first season in Lubbock, and did not see a snap for the Red Raiders before transferring to Abilene Christian. Maverick had a decent first two seasons for the Wildcats, throwing for 16 and 17 touchdowns respectively, but 2024 would be the year he truly broke through. McIvor paved his way back to the FBS with a stellar season, throwing for over 3,800 yards paired with 30 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Additionally, McIvor earned Second Team All-America honors while leading ACU to the FCS Playoffs.
